Sensory Friendly Performance of The Nutcracker
Voorhees Ballet Theatre is very excited to present a brand new sensory-friendly version of our production of the Nutcracker for our 2023 season! Our Sensory-Friendly performance will be held on Saturday, December 9 at 11am at Voorhees Middle School Theatre.
For this shortened version of the Nutcracker, we have made several accommodations to create a more inclusive theatre experience. This production is specifically designed for our guests on the autism spectrum or who have other sensory sensitivities, as well as anyone who may benefit from enjoying the ballet in a more relaxed environment.

During this sensory-friendly production, patrons can expect:
- A shorter performance
- Lower sound levels and adjusted lighting on stage
- House lights will remain on during the performance (at a dimmed level)
- A designated quiet area in the lobby
- Gluten-free concession options
We have also relaxed our normal theatre rules. Patrons are allowed to talk and move about freely during the performance, and are encouraged to visit the quiet area if a safe space is needed to take a break. Photography and videotaping is still strictly prohibited. Food is only permitted in the lobby and quiet area.
